Why Gain Weight?

There are several different reasons why someone might want to gain weight:

  • Very active lifestyle or labour intensive job

When it comes to putting on weight, caloric intake is key as you want to ensure you are consuming more calories than your body is burning throughout the day. Everyone has a different energy expenditure depending on lifestyle and physical activity levels. For example, if you work a desk job and are sitting for most of the day, you probably require less calories to gain weight than someone in the trades who is walking around and lifting all day.

The key to putting on weight is to do it the right way by eating healthy foods. If you are looking to gain, that doesn’t mean mowing down on two Big Macs for lunch to get the extra calories in. Highly processed foods are addictive, which means it can be difficult to cut them once you hit your goal weight. They are also better at putting on unhealthy fat versus the muscle you want to gain.
