Basil is a super-fragrant and flavorful plant with a ton of amazing health benefits. There are over 60 different types of basil, each with a slightly different taste, ranging from lemony to sweet to slightly cinnamon-y. Basil is also commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine and aromatherapy, as it’s said to be a fantastic de-stressor.

Basil is a great source of vitamin A, thanks to its high beta-carotene content, which is a powerful antioxidant responsible for cell protection. Basil is also very high in iron, which is something women are usually lacking in. Due to their menstrual cycles, women need more iron in their diets than men. In fact, basil is often recommended as a relief for menstrual cramps and pains.

This little herb is a crucial ingredient when creating the perfect pesto sauce. We use our pesto sauce on our salmon and other dishes. Basil shouldn’t be limited to that though - try incorporating it into salads and dressings! Flavoring water and iced drinks with basil is also super common. It’s a great way to flavor your water and ensure you’re properly hydrated throughout the day.
