These herbs are both from the same plant: the Coriandrum Sativum, or the coriander plant. The leaves of this plant are commonly known as cilantro, whereas the seeds are coriander! Both the leaves and the seeds of this herb are rich in potassium, calcium, and iron, which can work towards regulating blood pressure and red blood cell production. Both the leaves and the seeds of the coriander plant have an antibacterial compound that has been known to fight off infections like salmonella.
Both coriander and cilantro are excellent herbs to incorporate into cooking, not only for their health benefits, but for the taste! Cilantro leaves are a great topping for avocado, fish, and spicy rice dishes, as they have a subtly cool taste.
