Popeye knew what he was talking about… this leafy green is a nutritional powerhouse. Spinach can be found fresh, canned, or frozen, but nothing is better than the fresh, undamaged leaves. Spinach can be quite delicate, and the canning process can remove some of the nutrients it carries. 

Spinach is loaded with phytonutrients like the antioxidants beta-carotene and lutein, and also has high potassium content, which is great for lowering blood pressure. While we all know that spinach is great for your bones (thanks to its vitamin K content), a lot of people don’t know how good it is for your digestive tract, skin, and hair! Spinach has a lot of fibre and high water content, making it great for digestion. It’s rich in vitamin A, which promotes the growth of tissues like skin and hair! Finally, it’s full of vitamin C, which is essential for maintaining a healthy immune system. 

A lot can be done with spinach; it can be eaten cooked or raw. Spinach is easy to add to most meals: add it into your salads, wraps, sandwiches, eggs, and smoothies for an extra nutritional punch! Because we love spinach so much, we make our salads out of it, like our Greek Chicken Salad!
