What exactly is a tomato -- a fruit or a vegetable? You’re right if you said fruit; however, tomatoes have been ruled as vegetables due to how they’re commonly used. Regardless, tomatoes are packed full of good stuff, and are incredibly tasty and versatile. 

Sometimes known as “nature’s candy,” tomatoes are packed with a trio of antioxidants: zeta-carotene, phytoene, and phytofluene. These antioxidants have strong disease-fighting potential, as they protect your body from harmful diseases before they can even begin. Tomatoes also contain a high amount of lutein, which is good for your eyes. 

Tomatoes can be mixed into a delicious salad or eaten on their own raw. We love to add them to healthy meals wherever we can -- whether that be sundried in our Mediterranean Skillet, or as a side to our Tuna Salad Snack. Cooked, barbecued, or roasted -- eat them however you like! It doesn’t matter whether tomatoes are a fruit or a veggie, as they still benefit your heart and eyes all the same!
